PASS PLUS

Pass Plus is a Department for Transport initiative and is a scheme designed to improve your driving still further once you have passed your driving test with us. It's aim is to ensure safe and accident-free driving throughout the years ahead and entitle you to significant savings on your car insurance. In the first few years, these savings can amount to several hundreds of pounds.

The Pass Plus course consists of six hours' further training but does not involve a test at the end. At College School of Motoring, we have broken these six hours down into a three hour motorway session and then perhaps two one-and-a-half hour sessions covering urban, rural, all-weather and night-time driving.

At the conclusion of the course a record of completion will be sent to the Driving Standards Agency and they will issue you with a certificate as proof to your insurance company that the course requirements have been fulfilled.

Even if you currently drive under someone else's insurance policy, your premium reductions can be deferred for up to two years so there is not great pressure to take out your own insurance straight away.

The cost of completing the Pass Plus course will vary depending on whether you are driving a manual or automatic vehicle, but in both cases, Transport for London are currently offering a £70 refund to all participants living in a London Borough aged 17-25. This offer, we are told, will not last for ever, so take advantage while you can!
